Equity release can be a confusing minefield, but if you choose the right broker, they can simplify the subject and de-mystify the process whereby you feel confident to make decisions based on their advice. This is how I felt when dealing with Tammie from Home Finance Solutions.
Although I had done my homework and thought i knew what I wanted and needed (two very different things where equity release is concerned)Tammie was able to refine my ideas and focus on aspects of my requirments that highllighted factors I hadn't really thought about.
She did this through bespoke questioning and exploring aspects of my personality to find - and then secure - the best product available.
I dealt with other brokers besides her in order to find the one I wanted to work with, and what set her apart from the rest was her abillity to build a rapport with me - both on the telephone and via video call. She came across as someone who actually cared on a human level that I got what I needed and it was clear from the start that she knew the buisness inside out and had established contacts through which she could secure a good deal.
She was super-professional and worked quickly and efficiently - two things that were very important to me. The process from start to finish took approximately five weeks.
And, on the couple of occasions when she couldn't get back to me immediately on something, there was always a valid reason and, in one case, she got a colleague to contact me instead.
I was also very impressed with the solicitors with whom she referred me to. The same goes for the surveying firm.
A final piece of advice from mysellf on the subject of equity release is the following:
Be very aware that equity release is just a polite way of describing a lifetime mortgage - and in that sense you will be saddled with debt for the rest of your life.
Yes, you can become mortgage payment free and you'll get a stack of cash to spend as you wish, BUT when you die (or go into care) you might owe as much (or more) as the property is worth - in which case there'll be nothing to pass on to your children or loved ones.
Tammie from Home Finance Solutions was at pains to point this out - and other potential drawbacks - which is a crucial part of the advice that everyone needs to know when consideringing whether it's right for them.

He’s been a great help to us throughout our entire mortgage process, from applying to completing on our first home purchase.
